Hoi An, Quang Nam Province. This place has the cultural particularities of South Central Vietnam. It has been famous for the ancient town culture tradition in the rustic beauty attracted travelers. Famous for the ancient town of Hoi An, located on the downstream of Thu Bon river. From Da Nang city to Hoi An is about 30km to the south. In the seventeenth and eighteenth century, this place was a commercial port for traders from Japan, China and Western. In the nineteenth century, it became degraded as the war started but still stands until today. With the ancient architecture and cultural values of the intangible characteristics of the old town, it became the crowd’s favorite tourist destination in Central Vietnam and it contributed a lot to Hoi An’s tourism industry.
What kind of transportation in Hoi An
Because it is on the central so going in and out of Hoi An is extremely easy. You can transfer by plane, car, train, ship, motorbike or bicycle. For a short period of time you can quickly set foot in this town.
– By air (Hoi An airport)
Technically, Hoi An has no airport but you can still travel by plane and get to the nearest city to Hoi An, you will land at Danang airport. From Danang airport to Hoi An is approximately 30km. Approximately the same distance of Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi city center. Currently, the airlines which are exploiting such routes to Da Nang are Jetstar, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjetair and other low cost airlines. Vietjet and Jetstar have several affordable deals for domestic flights. When planning to travel to Hoi An, you should hunt for cheap tickets to save money. It will take 1 hour and 30 minutes to fly from Hanoi to Danang or from Ho Chi Minh to Danang.
– Transfer to Hoi An by train
You can buy train ticket North-South route to Danang, fares range from 300,000 VND – 1,200,000 VND depending on class and type of chair you choose. But it will take from 14-20 hours if you move by this vehicle. Going from Hanoi to Hoian you can choose to stop at Danang train station, where you can take a car to Hoi An. If you start your travel in Ho Chi Minh city you will take the South-North route and you can stop in Danang train station then go to Hoian by private car.
– Transfer to Hoi An by bus
There are many buses to Danang, and it almost doesn’t stop even if it’s not high season. You can buy open bus ticket.
When you arrive in Danang you can take a taxi , bus or private car is most convenient. Bus in Danang to Hoian about 20-minute intervals. Vehicles depart from the Danang bus station to the Hoian bus station (near the old town center 1 km), the later route is approximately 17h50, fare 15,000 VND/ person.
alternatively, you can rent a motorbike in Danang, charge from 60,000-120,000 VND/ day. There are two way to go:
First, go follow One Highway to the South about 27km to Vinh Dien street then turn left more 10km is in Hoian
Second, this path closer, more wilderness, from Center Danang go over the Han river, on provincial highways in Danang – Hoi An, distance from that to Hoi An is about 30km
– The best transfer from Da Nang to Hoi An is by private car. You can see all landscape in the road, take photos and relax. charge from Da nang to Hoi An by private car is from 15$.
– Vehicle in Hoi an
In Hoi An is full of transport services such as bus, taxi, motorcycle taxi, cycle, bicycle, boat and private car. But in my experience you should try the cycling around the old town, and/or rent a motorbike to get to other locations and go on boat in the Hoian river in the evening. The bike rental is 40.000 VND/day. The rent for motorcycle is from 120,000 – 150,000 VND/day. Price for boat ranges from 200,000-1,000,000 VND depending on the number of guests.
